There are some flower fields known worldwide, such as the tulip fields in the Netherlands. But did you know that the Provence region in southern France is known for its lavender fields?
From mid-June to mid-July, if you drive anywhere around the Valensole Plateau, you are sure to come across gorgeous lavender fields in full bloom. Drive with your windows down, and the sweet scent of lavender will fill your car.
You can stop for photos at most any lavender field you pass. I recommend stopping at at least one field that has a store selling products made from their lavender. My favorite store is Lavandes Angelvin. They offer a wide selection of products that are reasonably priced and have both lavender and sunflower fields right outside of their store.
It’s best to visit in the morning or the early evening for the best lighting, but the fields are beautiful any time of the day. If flower fields are on your travel list, visiting the lavender fields is truly unforgettable. Southern France also offers many other wonderful attractions. If you’re planning a trip, I’d love to help you with any travel advice you need!
